Emily entered her house, taking off her backback and throwing it onto the chair by the computer desk, she then began to remove her

shoes.

"Mama?" She called absently, mostly to just let her mother know she was home. She tossed her shoes into the entrance way.
Her mother came rushing into the room with an upset look on her face.
"We got Toby back today." She said, making at pathetic attempt at sounding happy.

She reached for a small white box that was ontop of the piano and placed it in Emily's hands.

There was an awkward silence before her mother ran a hand through Emily's hair lovingly, then left the room.

Emily stood there for a while, just staring at the tiny box.

She shuffled over to her bedroom, accidentally slammed the door, then flopped over onto her bed.

She slowly opened the box and inside was a small, cold, cream coloured urn, which she took out and continued to stare at for the next

3 mintutes.

Looking at it, she felt so hollow, like this wasn't real.

She placed it on the bed next to her and ran her thumb across the cold material of the urn and her lip began to tremble.

"We got Toby back today."

She said mockingly as hot tears began to run down her cheeks.

"If only that were true, I would give anything to have him back." She choked.

"Is that so?"

She was so startled that she forgot her sadness and shot straight up. The voice was like an echo in her head. Had she actually heard

anything at all?

"Because if you really are willing to give up anything, I may be able to help you."
The voice said again.

She whipped her head around in every direction, trying to find the source of the voice, when nothing was present in her room her eyes

drifted to her window.
Very cautiously she drew her curtain back, seeing the vague shape of a white figure she fell backwards, nearly screaming.

"Please, don't be scared, I'm here to help you."
The figure insisted.

Emily swallowed. "H-How could you help me?" she questioned.

"I can grant your wish, your deepest desire. If you make a contract with me."
It said a matter of factly, the voice echoing in her head.

"Contract?"
She was almost scared to ask.

"Yes, I will grant your wish if you agree to become a magical girl and fight witches. It's quite a fair exchange."
She saw the flick of a big bushy tail through the haze of the thin curtains. The sillohouette of the creature quite clear now.

This seemed unlikely, ridiculous even. Wish granting? Magical girls? What was that about witches? Well, here she was talking to an

albino squirell claiming that magical girls were real, so maybe, maybe this whole wish thing could be real. Maybe her wish could be

granted and she could have him back, and she would give anything to have him back, or believe anything.
She didn't need much time to think it over.

"So...I just tell you my wish?"

"Yes, that is the idea."
The creature awaited patiently, eagerly, for Emily's wish.

She took a deep breath, and wiped the drying tears from her face.

"I-I wish that my best friend, Toby...My uh...My cat, I wish that he was alive and well again."
She shut her eyes tightly and waited, but there was only quiet. She hesitantly opened an eye. The figure kept swishing its tail back and

forth.
"I'm sorry, I cannot grant that wish."

She felt her heart sink, and the tears threatened to return. "Why not!? What's wrong??" She praticaly screamed. "I knew it." she

sobbed. "Wishes don't really come true. I'm so stupid. I'm being tricked, aren't I? What sort of sick joke is this?"

"No! It's not that!"
The squirell creature insisted.
"I cannot revive the dead, at least not for you. Maybe think of a different wish? There must be plenty of things that you want."

She shook her head frantically. "I don't want anything but him."
The creature sighed.
"Sadly I cannot suggest a wish, so you must be clever." The figure said, tilting its head.

Be clever? So there must be a way to bring him back, she just had to think about it. She shifted around nervously, trying to think,

think, think! Suddenly, her eyes fell to her sketchbook, and it suddenly hit her. When she was feeling lonely, she would often draw

Toby, but not as a cat, as a little boy who was 9 years old, because that's how old he had been, that's how many years he had been

her's.
She bit her lip.
"Could you maybe put his memories and personality into another form?"

"Most likely, yes."

She took another deep and collected her thoughts.
"I wish for my cat Toby to come back in human form. With all of his memories, and personality, but with human intellegence."
She wasn't expecting anything, but suddenly there was an awful ripping pain in her chest, list something was being torn out from inside

of her, it hurt so much she couldn't even scream.

"Congratulations."
The voice said, though she hardly thought that a congratulations was in order at the moment.
"Your wish has surpassed entropy."

The pain began to ease as a blue light infront of her grew brighter and brighter, then dimmed to reveal a beautiful egg shaped gem, but

something else too.
Now asleep on her bed, curled in a ball like a cat, was a naked pale skinned little boy with dark black hair that stuck out at the sides

almost like cat ears. She couldn't even believe it, she just sat there gaping at him with the blue gem in her hands. Slowly, he opened a

green eye, caught site of her, and yawned. "Mama?"
She couldn't stop the tears from coming, and she nodded.
He looked around without even sitting up. "When did we get home? Did I fall asleep at that other place? The one where it was cold and

smelled bad, and there were all those other mean cats? I didn't feel very good, but I think I'm better now."
All she could do was once again nod in agreement.
"Mama, why were you crying? I told you I was ok."
She pretty much collapsed ontop of him, and hugged him tightly. "Yes, you are ok. You are ok."
It started as just some vent, but then I decided to actually try because I thought that it would be a neat thing to write.
I didn't think that I wrote all that much, but then I stuck it in a word counter and it's 1080 words or something.;;

But yeah, don't expect any more of this. (Maybe on more thing if I get bored again.)
This was only meant to be a one-shot, not even.

If you want to read more about this particular magical girl you need to read Puella Magi Mel Magica by ~XDsymphony! :D
